Lily School Paris is an associative bilingual preschool in French and English with multiple pedagogical approaches inspired by the methods of Montessori, Freinet, Steiner, and Decroly. Our ambition is to make the children discover the world through early language learning, sciences, visual arts, respect of themselves and of others, sustainable development, and intergenerational exchanges.
Lily School Paris is an associative bilingual preschool (French/English) inspired by multiple pedagogies including the methods of Montessori, Freinet, Steiner, and Decroly, allowing our children to enter either French or English elementary school after their time with us. Our ambition is to make the children discover the world through early language learning, arts, respect of oneself and of the others, sustainable development, and intergenerational exchanges.
We welcome children from 2 to 6 years old in our completely bilingual environment.
Lily School’s Kids’ Corner is our bilingual day care center open all day from 8:30am to 6pm Wednesdays and during school breaks (Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer). We are also open before and after school Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8am to 8:45am and from 4pm to 6pm. Kids’ Corner offers workshops in the visual arts, music, and theatre all supervised by a native English and French speaking team.
Sustainable development is one of Lily School Paris’ main pedagogical axis’. We integrate daily sustainable practices at school and at daycare, resulting in the recent honor of receiving the International Label for Sustainable Development.
Starting with the arts–music, theater, photography, painting, drawing, sculpture, collage cutting–the child learns about artists from around the globe, recreates their own version of famous artworks, and learns to describe art in both languages. Allowing the child’s playful creativity to take control, we encourage our children to express themselves, understand the world around them, and tangibly learn the two languages.
In partnership with the La Quintinie Retirement Home (located steps from our preschool), Lily School Paris offers weekly workshops with the elderly. Fostering these exchanges is very important to Lily School Paris as intergenerational connections have consistently been proven beneficial to both the elderly and the young. These workshops hosted by Lily School in collaboration with the retirement home allow the elderly to transmit their life experiences to our young children, building a link between the two to aid in dispelling loneliness among the elderly and giving children the opportunity to understand more about the world around them.
Lily School Paris believes in the importance of cross-cultural exchanges and teaching our students about the world beyond our four walls. Each year, we sponsor an endangered species, from the sea turtle to the red panda, Lily School aids in the care and keeping of the animal most often found in other parts of the globe. We’ve also recently begun sponsoring a schoolgirl in Cambodia; Nakk, our 7-year-old sponsee, started school at CP in September 2018 at Happy Chandara School. The students of Lily School Paris write regularly to Nakk and in turn, receiving letters from her, learning about the other’s home, school, and life in Paris and Phnom Penh respectively. These exchanges, from regularly talking to Nakk about her life in Cambodia to discovering the environment of our sponsored animals, allows us to travel to around the globe–a beautiful opening to others, rich in reflection and humanity.
